I enjoy having two Services on the 1st & 3rd Sundays when Shepherd of the Hills also has a Service. And while the Gospels are the same, the Readings & the Hymns are not. The 2nd Reading is familiar (we must love our brothers & sisters as God loves us) but is the message of the Gospel referring to eternity when John speaks of Jesus being the vine but that God the Father is the vine-grower (who will cut away the unproductive branches)? Or, is John referring to the "wrath of God" which could fall on us during our time on earth, and if so, does that usually come from the Father, while Jesus promises to never give up…

First, a few quotes from Jesus:

"whoever has seen me has seen the Father" (John 14:9)

"the Son can do nothing on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise." (John 5:19)

"What I speak, therefore, I speak just as the Father has told me." (John 12:50)

"The Father and I are one." (John 10:30)


I share those first because I want to be sure we don't place a distinction between the persons of God that doesn't fit scripture. God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit are different persons, but they are one God with one purpose. H…
