That is really good advice & so well explained. I very much appreciate your answer to my question. It makes perfect sense!

The music is always wonderful, but I especially liked the the Hymns and the arrangements this Sunday. And as I understand the message given by you, Pastor John, it is that the Gift of God is that faith which has saved us, and that faith encourages us to live life as Christ has taught us to live;- being generous and helping others freely through good works.

My questions is this: Is it enough to live a "good & generous life" and not be oppressors, or, by extension, are we bound to speak up & defend others against injustice?

Janis, that's a good question!


Everything you have (your possessions, your status, your voice, your time) is a gift from God to you. And because they are gifts, you can use them freely for the sake of those whom God puts in relation to you. So, to the extent you have a voice to use in speaking up (and an audience who will listen!) that may be some of the good work God has prepared beforehand for you.


Is it enough? Probably not, but part of being taken in by grace means that terms like "enough" don't have the same claim on us they used to. My advice is to let God worry about what is or isn't enough whi…
